Lekki shooting: FG sanctions AIT, Arise TV over use of online footages

The Federal Government has slammed sanctions on some major broadcast stations over their coverage of the Lekki shooting and reactions.

According to a statement by the National broadcasting commission NBC, the stations were accused of playing a part in the escalation of the violence across Nigeria.

Announcing the sanctions on Monday, NBC fined Arise News, African Independent Television (AIT) and Channels Television between N2 million and N3 million respectively

The media houses have been covering the End SARS protests and the subsequent civil disorders in states.

  2. When you fine both of them with #3 million and #2 million naira respectively, don’t you want them to broadcast new anymore or what do you mean. I don’t understand it oooo.

  4. Buhari should not use that style, Nigeria must speak up,FG want to block them not to anance anything on the air again it will not work.

  5. Are we in democracy era or dictatorship? Why would you ask the broadcast stations not to carry news and be telling us that they are the one escalating the violence against the government. Imposing fine on them might not solve the issue.
