I did not order the killings at Lekki Toll Gate – Sanwo-Olu (Photos)
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has denied ordering the killing of #EndSARS protesters as he visited some victims of Lekki toll gate shooting.
Sharing photos of the victims he visited in several hospitals, he revealed that ” forces beyond our direct control have moved to make notes in our history”.
He also noted that the curfew was set to protect the lives of protesters as he could not have turned around to hurt the very people he tried to save.
He further revealed that there are currently 10 patients at the General Hospital in Lagos Island, 11 at Reddington hospital and 4 at Vedic hospital with mild to moderate levels of injuries, while 2 are receiving intensive medical care, and 3 patients have been discharged as he offered to settle their medical bills.
He wrote;
This may be the toughest night of our lives as forces beyond our direct control have moved to make notes in our history, but we will face it.
As a Father and Governor, I watched in anguish the unacceptable event that occurred last night at the Lekki tollgate.
The decision to impose curfew was borne out of concern for innocent protesters and the entire citizenry of our dear state. It will be foolhardy for a leader to try to protect his citizens and still turn around to put their lives at risk.
However, this is not the time to trade blames. We will take it in our stride and move. I paid a visit to all the victims of the unfortunate shooting incident at the various hospitals where they are being urgently attended to.
There are currently 10 patients at the General Hospital in Lagos Island, 11 at Reddington hospital and 4 at Vedic hospital with mild to moderate levels of injuries, while 2 are receiving intensive medical care. And 3 patients have been discharged. I implored the attending doctors to give them the best care, while we cover all their medical bills.
We are working with the Federal Govt to harmonize and stabilize all security operations while prioritizing the lives of the residents we swore to protect and serve. I would also be giving a statewide address in a few hours. We will come out stronger.
Also engaging some Nigerians in the comment section of the Instagram post, Sanwo-Olu denied ordering the shooting.
My heart is bleeding, that is all I have to say for now
Tnis man is insame
Who gave the order.
You are among one of them.
Infact that you order for curferw you one of them
If you have hand in killing those protesters, there blood will not let you rest. Your children will eat from what you sow.
You said you were not aware, who asked them to remove the CCTV camera and off the lights, without your authorization, nobody can do that.
Our leaders is full of lies, Denied the situation we see face to face, our leaders don’t have the mercy of it’s citizens. Only God can save us from the country.
Sanwo-olu I swear you 4cup, why you go other the Nigeria army to kill the protesters? Is unfair o. And I have been saying something against the people that you are not like that, I said you always have sympathy for the people, especially your people in Lagos State. But God knows everything. Please stop affecting we protesters if you are not as you said.
May God protect us all in a time as this, quick recoveries to those alive.
Is a lie, he’s responsible for this
He might not order it but surely he is involved in it…
It is lie
You don’t need to order the killings, you need to go there and address them, listen to them, ensure their safety. Even if police or soldiers are to be there, they should go with teargas knowing the kind of persons they are. We hold you responsible Mr.Governor.
