The government is not ready to respect the rights of Nigerians – Femi Falana
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana says there are no signs that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is ready to respect the rights of Nigerians
Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday night, Falana also criticized the federal government for setting up the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, to replace the disbanded Special anti-robbery Unit (SARS), he also added that Nigerians want to see critical steps being taken when it comes to policing Nigeria.
“As far as I’m concerned, so far, we are only scratching the surface of the problem.
“And there’s been no indication that the government is prepared yet to respect the rights of the Nigerian people embodied in the constitution and other statues.
“For me, it is not actually the name that matters and I think what the youths are saying is that beyond renaming, they want to see concrete steps taken to show that it is not going to be business as usual when it comes to policing in Nigeria,” Falana said.
you are right that is just what we want, the government want us to take the law into our hands before they will know that we are serious.
If this kind of protest doesn’t happen in Nigeria, government will still turn a deaf hear to what we said we don’t want and president buhari administration is full of not attending to critical issues that needs urgent attention. I hope this will serve as a lesson to him and other governments.
President buhari’s administration is full of non cahallant attitude and full of negligence. Nigerians will be telling him this is what we want and this is what we don’t, if Nigerian government can change their ways of governing it will be better if not things will not change.
Nigeria government nowadays don’t respect the will of her citizens because if they do things would have change for good since all these years. Government should learn how to respect rule of law and provide security of lives and properties for her citizens.
You people should speak up, let’s reform this country now or never. Now they must listen
we know that they will not respect it nd that is the reason y the protest will continue on till they do so
I won’t doubt your words dear FEMI FALANA because the government is doing as if they are not hearing or aware of what is happening in this country maybe as they
have not been harassed by this SARS people before I think that’s why they are giving our cry deaf ears.
Good man, O God help this man for us, only man that understand the problems of the masses in this country. Allow him to lead this country in the next election pls.
I wish I had an answer to that, because I’m tired of answering that question government is fool theirselve
Not available, working… At least that’s what my boss thinks.
Even if you don’t have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem. They government should resign so those that ready for our change.
President muhammadu buhari is not yet ready to listen to Nigeria and it will cause big trouble for the president. Well I pray not to listen to us……so that he can face wahala.
That is true cuz the man is very stuborn and doesn’t listen to advises….
It true
Right from time memorial, Nigeria government has never respected human right and the right of Nigeria youth. So not just this administration
That is true and even this buhari administration makes everything worse but we are not going to let them takes away our right…. Stupid people
I wonder why the president is behaving the way he is behaving
Does he think we are in the military era
He must listen to the masses..o because it is we that put him there
The youth must make sure they end Buhari’s regime.
Renaming is not the solution but rather rebirth and reformation.
