Mali President, Keïta resigns, dissolves cabinet
Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, President of Mali has resigned his position as president of the country.
He shared the news while addressing the nation on Wednesday.
Keïta stated that he does not want blood to be spilled for him to remain in power, adding that he was also dissolving his cabinet.
This comes hours after he and Prime Minister Boubou Cissé were arrested and detained by the military.
Demonstrations demanding Keïta’s resignation had been holding for over three months as there was a huge jubilation during his arrest.
Wow
this man try oo abeg someone should help us and tell our President to resign pls
African mentality is the problem, is it because we are black? Your citizens have been protesting for over three months then you are still remain in power until your arrest. So, if you were not arrested you won’t resign. So bad indeed.
You resigned after your arrest by the military, if not you won’t. Our leaders should learn how to do the right thing at the right time. We (leaders) shouldn’t wait till we exhausted all our tactics before doing the right thing. Your people have spoken that you were not wanted but you were adamant. Good luck in your future endeavors.
That’s what all president should do when there cabinet members are messing up.
This is really a serious issue. But he did well by resigning to avoid shedding of blood according to him
Nice move
This would make other sit up.
We need to adopt this in Nigeria.
Africa is coming up. This is the right action every leader should not waste time to take when he starts to get the signals that the people he or she is ruling over do not like him or her again.
This system of sit tight attitude exhibited by most African leaders even at the full glare that their citizens have rejected them outrightly is uncalled for and very unfair
The leaders in Africa should learn from Mali president’s action
His resighnation is best known to him
Why then….sha it not easy to rule a country
Oh,what did he do nah?
It’s best for corrupted country
good move
Hmm,,,, I think Mali will now be in save hands but let our president resign
