Cristiano Ronaldo ‘flies to Madeira to be with his mother after she suffered a stroke and was rushed to hospital’
Cristiano Ronaldo has gone to Madeira to be with his mother in hospital after she suffered a stroke.
His mother, Dolores Aveiro was admitted to Dr. Nelio Mendonca Hospital in Madeira just after 5am yesterday morning.
One local report says Dolores suffered an ischemic stroke, caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs a blood vessel in the brain. But is ‘conscious and stable’ while waiting to undergo new tests in the next few hours to determine her state of health.
Her son, Cristiano Ronaldo got on a private jet to Portugal immediately and will return to Italy later today to play in a cup semi-final against Milan.
Sporting Lisbon, where Ronaldo started his senior career before he left and signed for Manchester United, has released a statement wishing Dolores a speedy recovery
The club said in a statement: ‘Sporting Clube de Portugal wishes Dolores Aveiro all the best and wishes she makes a speedy recovery.’
Back in 2017, Dolores recovered from breast cancer after being diagnosed with the disease.
